ELECTIVES: Make up the balance of hours needed to equal 90 hours. Please consider adding General Education requirements to your study plan if you do not have an associate degree from an Oklahoma school or a bachelor’s degree from a US school.

Pre-Physical Therapy

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: Admission to the program requires completion of prerequisite course work and submission of all application materials. The Department Admissions Committee will review application materials and will request additional information such as a personal interview. To be considered for admission to the Physical Therapy Program an applicant must:

  1. Have successfully completed, or be in the process of completing, a minimum of 90 semester hours of prerequisite course work from an accredited college or university prior to matriculation to the program;
  2. Be in good standing with the college or university last or currently attending;
  3. Have a minimum cumulative and science grade point average of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale for all college work and natural science courses attempted. Note: Academic forgiveness policy is available; A recently admitted class had an average gpa of 3.7 overall and 3.6 in sciences.
  4. Have completed all department prerequisite courses with grades of C or better;
  5. Document 40 hours of observation experience in a variety of physical therapy settings prior to application;
  6. Submit Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores: General Test; and
  7. Students for whom English is a second language must submit a minimum score of 550 within two years prior to application on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

Application Procedure

2. Submit the following by February 1, of the year in which admission is sought:

? A completed University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center application; ? Official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended; ? Documentation of observation experience (40 hours); ? GRE Scores; and ? Non-refundable application fees.

  1. A letter of acceptance, alternate status, or denial to the Physical Therapy program will be mailed the latter part of April. If notification is not received by May 1, contact the department.
  2. The applicant must accept the position in writing within two weeks of notification and confirm their intention to enroll and attend with a $100 non-refundable deposit. The deposit is applied toward tuition and fees during the first term or the position will be considered declined. Alternates will be selected according to numerical ranking. Alternates may be admitted up to the first class day for the fall semester if all positions have not been filled.
