The Department of Biology offers three undergraduate degrees in Biology (B.S. in Biology, B.S. in Science Education, B.S. in Medical Technology) and one graduate degree (Master of Science in Biology). The department consists of 17 faculty representing the diversity of disciplines in biology.
We offer a variety of courses and hands-on experiences in biology. Students gain experience from activities ranging from research directed by faculty to internships designed for individual students. New hands-on opportunities continue to develop through the Selman Living Laboratory in northwest Oklahoma.
Our location in the center of the state also grants us at least one luxury as biologists--access to a diverse array of habitats that converge near UCO. We are close to short/mixed-grass prairies in the west, the tall-grass prairie in the northeast, the eastern deciduous forests in the southeast, all while living in the cross timbers habitat of central Oklahoma. |
